Tokyo Disneyland

Tokyo Disneyland sits in Urayasu, Chiba Prefecture, and forms part of the Tokyo Disney Resort. It opened on 15 April 1983—the third Disney park after Disneyland in California and the Magic Kingdom in Florida, and the first outside the United States. It is owned by the Oriental Land Company, founded with capital from Keisei Electric Railway, Mitsui Fudosan and others, and operated under a theme licence from the Walt Disney Company. The park is divided into seven themed areas: World Bazaar, Adventureland, Westernland, Critter Country, Fantasyland, Toontown and Tomorrowland; in 2023 it drew 15.1 million visitors. From the moment you walk in through the entrance arcade—deliberately roofed over against the rainy climate—every hall, statue, well and mountain carries a story that has been walked past but rarely told.
